About Me

My name is Noemi Mendez-Hyams and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) in the State of Texas, License #64318. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and have a Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling. I enjoy working with families the most as this is the core of most of our relationships, whether we’re talking about our family of origin or our present day family unit.

I have experience working as a contract therapist for a non-profit with a focus on parenting skills, parent/child relationships such as adolescents with their parents in addition to helping couples and individuals. I’ve developed and led group therapy sessions, multi-family groups as well as provided family and individual therapy.

I have worked in mental health / substance abuse treatment facilities treating depression, anxiety, and self-injurious behaviors. I have led groups related to substance abuse / recovery / relapse prevention. I have provided crisis assessments in emergency rooms, in homes or shelters and a crisis hotline to assist those having thoughts of suicide, homicide, psychosis, mania or persons needing medical detox services.

Part of being a good therapist is having been in therapy to not only work through our own issues but to experience therapy on the other side of the couch. I do have experience in this regard. I take great care in knowing how vulnerable it is to seek professional help and what strength it took to reach out for assistance. I value your input, time and your commitment to the therapeutic process.
